About The Position

The Doe Fund is seeking a Program Director for its newest permanent supportive housing program for homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS. This program is designed to offer long-term residential care and 24-hour support services within a community environment that promotes resident independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. The residence will have 98 units, with 49 designated for individuals referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) and the remaining 49 for moderate-income households. The Program Director will provide leadership and direction to both staff and residents, requiring strong leadership, communication, and entrepreneurial skills, along with an understanding of the HIV/AIDS population and relevant NYC and State agencies and funding sources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with people who are homeless, living with HIV/AIDS, have substance abuse histories, and/or suffer from mental illness.
  • Strong leadership skills, including outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff and residents.
  • Excellent clinical and case management skills.
  • Sensitivity to community issues and needs.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong ethical standards, confidentiality, and personal integrity.
  • Computer proficiency (i.e., email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the supportive housing program, including implementation of fiscal, programmatic, and administrative procedures.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the administrative, clinical, building maintenance, and residential services of the program.
  • Monitor program budget and contracts, and ensure that proper documentation is provided for all expenses and accounts.
  • Oversee the intake process and ensure the program is operating at full capacity at all times.
  • Provide 24-hour on-call crisis intervention when needed.
  • Provide training to staff on harm reduction, substance abuse, and mental health.
  • Ensure compliance with HASA and ESSHI contracts and performance standards.
  • Responsible for the completion of various reports as required by HASA, the AIDS Institute, and The Doe Fund.
  • Provide supervision to clinical staff and ensure that the staff are providing adequate, supportive case management services to the residents.
  • Conduct performance evaluations on all supervisees.
  • Facilitate staff meetings, clinical meetings, and resident community meetings.
  • Conduct internal audits and quality assurance checks to ensure the timely and accurate completion and submission of all required documentation.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and community organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
