The Program Director (PD) provides leadership and oversight for the Family Medicine Residency Program in compliance with the ACGME Program Requirements for Family Medicine. This position has a primary clinical practice at Mercy Hospital Berryville and the Mercy Clinic Berryville, the clinical partner for this rural training program. This is a 1-2 program in which residents serve the first year in Fayetteville at Washington Regional, integrated into the UAMS Northwest Family Medicine Residency Program. For years 2 and 3, residents are based in Carroll County. The Program Director has oversight of residents and faculty at two rural family practice outpatient clinics – a Mercy clinic in Berryville and a Washington Regional clinic in Eureka Springs. This collaboration across institutions combines the academic excellence and research resources of UAMS with both urban and rural community-based care models to train compassionate, skilled family physicians who are prepared to meet the evolving health needs of rural communities in Arkansas and beyond. The PD ensures the program fosters excellence in patient care, resident education, faculty development, professionalism, diversity, and continuous improvement, consistent with the UAMS mission to develop the next generation of confident, practice-ready physicians committed to primary care and service to their communities.
