The Program Director, Service Projects at City Year is a role for individuals passionate about people, community building, and empowering young people. This position involves making a tangible impact on the LA community by creating vibrant schools and bringing joy to student scholars, unlocking community potential, and connecting public and private spheres to meet critical needs in under-resourced schools. The role is part of a collaborative team focused on training the next generation of leaders. The Director will collaborate with the head of AmeriCorps Member Experience, Program, and Fundraising teams to create service projects that infuse resources into LA schools, foster connections with AmeriCorps members (ACMs), schools, and funders, thereby expanding City Year’s visibility. Key responsibilities include project managing all phases of 15-25 physical service events (murals, gardening, light construction), ensuring positive experiences for all participants. The Director will also coach, manage, and train an entry-level team of 6-10 AmeriCorps Members (ages 18-25) in technical project skills like tracing, painting, and building. Building and managing partnerships with schools and stakeholders to secure event sites and coordinate schedules is crucial for scalable project delivery. The role also involves collaborating across City Year Los Angeles (CYLA) departments and with external partners to strengthen relationships with donors, corporate partners, schools, and the community for fundraising, partnership development, and mission impact.
