About The Position

West Liberty University is seeking applications for a Program Director of the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. This position is a full-time, 12-month tenure track faculty position with administrative responsibilities and reports to the Dean of the College of Sciences. The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the West Liberty University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by West Liberty University with an approximate date for the next validation review in March 2035.

Requirements

  • Three years of full-time higher education experience in a PA program.
  • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program.
  • Master’s degree minimum.
  • Current or emeritus NCCPA certification required.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of West Virginia.
  • Knowledge of the physician assistant accreditation process.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Successfully passing a background screening report is required for final employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate Degree in related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in PA program administration and the ARC-PA accreditation process.
  • Previous experience in curriculum development and program assessment.
  • Five years of clinical experience as a practicing PA.

Responsibilities

  • Providing effective leadership and management to the Physician Assistant Studies Program at West Liberty University.
  • Supervising the medical director, principal and instructional faculty, and staff working within the PA program.
  • Program organization, program administration, fiscal management of the program.
  • Effective communication, continuous programmatic review and analysis.
  • Completion of ARC-PA required documents, and adherence to the Standards and ARC-PA policies.
  • Representing the program and the PA profession at institutional and extra-institutional functions and activities.
  • Overseeing the administration of departmental assessments and reports.
  • Working with PA faculty and staff, Graduate Studies, and Admissions staff to recruit students into the program and to coordinate the admissions process.
  • Evaluating, developing, and implementing curriculum according to ARC-PA standards and participating in the graduate Curriculum Committee.
  • Conducting program evaluations and submitting annual evaluation reports to the Provost/VP Academic Affairs Office.
  • Supervising the Academic and Clinical Coordinators, as well as the PA Administrative.
  • Participating in continuous improvement in the areas of teaching, professional development, and service to the University and community.
