About The Position

The Graduate School of Business and Leadership (GSBL) at National Louis University (NLU) is seeking a Program Director for its M.S. in Human Resources Management and Development and M.S. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology programs. This is a 12-month, open-rank, administrative Professional Practice faculty position (non-tenured). The successful candidate will be a dynamic, forward-thinking, student-centered leader with business and faculty experience, understanding the need for critical thinking, problem-solving, and change leadership in HR professionals. The role emphasizes problem-based and experiential curriculum development to address real-world issues for working professionals. Responsibilities include program administration, teaching graduate courses in various modalities, staffing, curriculum development, assessment, and student support. The M.S. in Human Resource Management and Development is SHRM-aligned and primarily delivered online, with a blended option. The M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, launched in 2017, is fully online and aligned with SIOP principles. The Program Director will advise the NLU Student SHRM chapter and join a highly engaged GSBL team, contributing to NLU's strategic plan focused on innovation, access, excellence, and equity.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in Human Resource, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, Business, Leadership or closely related field required.
  • Minimum of five years of full-time professional practice experience in administrative, managerial, and/or executive positions.
  • Research experience in one of the above (or related) disciplines as evidenced by publications in journals, books, book chapters, white papers, or presentations to corporate, academic, or professional communities.
  • Record of effective teaching in higher education.
  • Record of effective teaching in online and hybrid/blended format.
  • Professionalism in and demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations.
  • Commitment to student success, student professional growth, and effective professional advising.
  • Experience in learning outcome assessment.
  • Experience using technology and AI in teaching and course development.
  • Appropriate professional memberships in Human Resources and/or Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

  • SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of master’s level courses in business, leadership and related topics, in person and online.
  • Student Advocate overseeing the timely resolution of student inquiries.
  • Contributions to continuous improvement of student outcomes in engagement, retention, graduation, and career advancement.
  • Active involvement in the programs, tools and events that enable students to learn and experience more about the field while pursuing their degree.
  • Student advising, including advising on academic progress and professional goals.
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
  • Ongoing development and revision of program curriculum and learning experiences.
  • Continuous Improvement through course updates to the master course templates as necessary.
  • Leadership and participation in programmatic and student learning outcome assessment process.
  • Completion of annual program reviews and a five year comprehensive program review.
  • Maintenance of program quality (Quality Matters).
  • In collaboration with the GSBL Dean, lead and monitor the success of the HRMD and IOP programs, including supporting enrollment and retention goals, programmatic assessment and accreditation goals, course scheduling, monitoring the quality of instruction, hiring talented adjuncts, and mentoring and supporting full-time and part-time faculty.
  • Serve as a key leader in the GSBL working in collaboration with the enrollment and outreach team to support current and future partners.
  • Serve as the program representative to internal and external constituents.
  • Membership and active involvement in the field to grow the prestige of the NLU HRMD and IOP programs.
