About The Position

The College of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Clinical Associate Professor (12-Month) / Program Director, Clinical Leadership Doctor of Nursing Practice Program. The Program Director (PD) will assume the lead role in developing a new track in the existing Doctor of Nursing Practice Program in accordance with the New York State Education Department and the Commission on Collegiate Education requirements. The PD supports the deans in carrying out the College of Nursing (CON) mission by coordinating a high-quality educational program for students. In fulfilling this responsibility, the PD collaborates with faculty, students, and staff of the CON, other nursing and health professionals, and the community to maintain a program track that is compliant with professional nursing standards and guidelines and meets benchmarks as outlined in the CON Systematic Evaluation Plan (SEP). The PD meets/exceeds the expected faculty outcomes for mastery of subject matter, teaching, service, scholarship, and continued growth as required by the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and as outlined in the CON CAPQ manual. The PD assumes equitable faculty workload as per the CON Faculty Workload Guideline.

Requirements

  • PhD Degree.
  • New York State Registered Nurse Licensure.
  • 7+ years of clinical leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a new DNP program curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Vice Dean and Dean to develop and submit the program proposal to the New York State Education Department.
  • Participate in student recruitment.
  • Screen program applicants and recommend a fit class of candidates for admission.
  • Review and revise program curriculum as per the SEP or when professional standards are updated.
  • Support the CON in meeting/exceeding expected program outcomes and benchmarks.
  • Monitor program outcomes, using evaluation methods outlined in the SEP.
  • Collaborate with the deans to develop an action plan if a departure from standards and/or benchmarks is identified.
  • Respond to student queries and addresses issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist with preparation of documents for accrediting agencies and participate in site evaluations for accreditation.
  • Assist with faculty recruitment, faculty development, faculty mentorship, and monitor faculty teaching practices for the track.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Placement team to identify qualified preceptor/clinical site affiliations.
  • Monitors quality/sufficiency of clinical sites.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clinical agencies, specialty organizations, students, preceptors, faculty, students, and alumni.
