About The Position

Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) is seeking a passionate and innovative educator to lead its nationally recognized FAME (Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education) Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program. This is a distinctive opportunity to lead a growing, high-profile initiative with influence well beyond the Triad. The program combines rigorous technical instruction, paid work-based learning, and strong industry partnerships to deliver globally recognized preparation for modern manufacturing careers. The Program Director will be responsible for developing and revising courses, teaching technical and non-technical FAME/AMT courses, facilitating and coaching non-credit AMT activities, and maintaining the FAME Technical Center and laboratory facilities. Additionally, the role involves advising students and collaborating with industry partners to ensure curriculum relevancy. The Program Director will provide vision and leadership for the FAME AMT Program and the college, with primary administrative responsibilities including program development and management, budget management, maintaining accreditation and external partnerships, and supervising faculty and staff. Instructional responsibilities require strong skills and the ability to teach effectively. The Program Director is a full-time faculty member with some administrative release time.

Requirements

  • Knowledge, skills and experience to provide effective instruction in advanced manufacturing topics related to mechatronics engineering technology.
  • Criminal history checks with acceptable results are required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop/revise, prepare and teach both technical and non-technical FAME /Advanced Manufacturing Technician courses.
  • Facilitate and coach non-credit AMT activities within the program.
  • Care for and maintain the FAME Technical Center and laboratory facilities.
