Requirements

  • A thorough understanding of the developmentally disabled individuals, services, resources and tools.
  • The ability to assess clients (and families) from a strengths model perspective, along with the skills, knowledge and abilities to develop a theoretical perspective.
  • The ability to work with a variety of people.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A BS/BA Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of professional supervisory and management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and/or service oversight and program supervision – according to administrative rule and corporate policy of assigned programs, projects, and/or staff.
  • Intervenes with clients and makes treatment suggestions to staff.
  • Participates and performs as a member of an interdisciplinary service/treatment team.
  • Maintains compliance with licensing standards.
  • Assists in the development and review of written policies and procedures governing all aspects of the treatment program.
  • Complies and reports outcome data to demonstrate program effectiveness.
  • Participate in organizational development and long-range planning.
  • Oversee the implementation of service plans and individualized treatment plans.
  • Networks with other community agencies to provide services.
  • Participate in referral determinations and communicate effectively with referral sources regarding client’s progress.
  • Observes, reports, and records data concerning the residents’ physical, emotional, and behavioral states.
  • Utilizes H.E.L.P. (including therapeutic holds) when it is determined that a resident is a danger to self or others; also performs basic First Aid and/or CPR when needed.
  • Provide training, in-service sessions, and other such instruction as approved and directed by supervisor, this includes disseminating and encouraging AWARE's Core Values, Unconditional Care Philosophy, and approved Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) approaches and techniques.
  • Participate in staff evaluations and personnel actions as directed.
  • Attend and participate in mandatory training, in-services, staff meetings, and Corporate Committees as assigned.
  • Collaborate with individuals to assess their strengths and skills in daily living, empowering them to identify, develop, and participate in meaningful activities that foster functional independence and personal growth in a safe, supportive environment.
  • Support individuals in navigating personal challenges or conflicts by responding with empathy, providing therapeutic guidance, and offering empowering alternatives to help build resilience and positive coping strategies.
