About The Position

The K9 Connections Program Coordinator supports the coordination and implementation of The People Concern’s pet program services, including pet clinics, pet pantries, training programs, spay and neuter collaborations, outreach activities, and other community-based pet support services for members experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. This position focuses on high-quality member service, day-to-day program coordination, and support for the ongoing delivery and improvement of K9 Connections programming. The Coordinator also supports community engagement efforts by assisting with volunteer coordination, donor engagement, and partnership activities that strengthen program services.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Current, valid California Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
  • Detail oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, and computer skills
  • Able to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A BFA or BA degree
  • two (2) years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, preferably those navigating mental health conditions and/or substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the K9 Connections program, including responding to emails, phone calls, member requests, case management referrals, and general program inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain a welcoming, organized, and accessible program environment, ensuring K9 Connections office and service spaces are clean, organized, and prepared for member services, meetings, tours, and partner visits.
  • Provide support to members through compassionate consultation, resource navigation, and coordination of pet-related services, referrals, and problem solving related to housing insecurity.
  • Maintain working knowledge of community resources, veterinary services, pet support programs, foster and rehoming networks, and referral pathways to support effective service coordination.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to support coordinated service delivery and alignment with agency-wide initiatives.
  • Support the coordination and implementation of K9 Connections programs and activities, including pet pantries, wellness clinics, training programs, outreach events, spay and neuter collaborations, foster support, rehoming services, and related initiatives.
  • Support the development and maintenance of positive working relationships with members, staff, volunteers, donors, veterinary partners, trainers, community stakeholders, and collaborative agencies.
  • Represent K9 Connections at assigned networking events, partner meetings, trainings, conferences, outreach activities, and other external engagement opportunities.
  • Support coordination of volunteers, interns, foster participants, and community partners by assisting with scheduling, communication, onboarding support, training logistics, and day-to-day program coordination. Respond to volunteer, foster, and rehoming inquiries and assist with follow-up communication and service coordination.
  • Assist with the development and facilitation of educational materials, presentations, training videos, demonstrations, and pet care resources for members, staff trainings, outreach activities, and community engagement efforts.
  • Maintain and update the K9 Connections SharePoint page with current schedules, program information, announcements, resources, and educational materials.
  • Support the maintenance, cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the K9 van and program equipment for outreach activities, clinics, and community events.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of supplies, equipment, donations, pet food, and clinic materials, and support ordering, organization, distribution, and restocking of program resources.
  • Support program logistics including clinic preparation, event scheduling, participant tracking, flyer distribution, data entry support, and coordination of requests from case managers, members, volunteers, and partners.
  • Maintain accurate program records, including participant information, clinic documentation, inventory logs, and service tracking through agency databases, spreadsheets, SharePoint, and reporting systems.
  • Scan and organize registration forms, vaccination records, rabies documentation, and participant/pet files for entry into program databases and tracking systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including program statistics, narratives, outcomes, and grant-related documentation.
  • Support compliance with grant requirements, contracts, agency policies, reporting deadlines, safety standards, confidentiality requirements, and program documentation expectations
