The elected District Attorney is the chief law enforcement officer in the City and County of Denver, and is responsible for the prosecution of violations of Colorado State Laws. The current Denver District Attorney is John Walsh. Location This position reports on site from 8:00AM to 5:00PM at the Republic Plaza building located at 370 17th St suite 5300 Denver, CO 80202. What You'll Do The District Attorney's Office is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Economic Crime Unit (ECU). The Denver District Attorney's Office prosecutes state felony, misdemeanor and petty offense cases in Denver County, Juvenile and District Courts, provides assistance to witnesses and victims of crime, and maintains an active community education and crime prevention program. To accomplish its work, the District Attorney's Office has several divisions, units and special programs.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
• Five (5) years of technical or administrative experience performing standard research and evaluation, case management, and/or implementing work processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support to callers/customers via the Fraud Line, identifying and meeting the caller's needs and working to help resolve consumer matters when able, provide appropriate resources or guide them in the process of filing a criminal complaint with ECU
• Determine if an economic crime occurred within the statute of limitations, and unit has jurisdiction
• Explain the complaint process and provide guidance in gathering needed documentation for submission.
• Review complaint for sufficiency of evidence, and work with complainant if additional information is needed
• Gather information necessary to support an investigation including: conducting background searches, contacting collateral agencies, identifying and locating suspects, Internet research, and obtaining information from legal sources and from the public record, including federal, civil and probate court cases
• Run criminal histories, obtain records or documentation regarding prior offenses, research and request court records, schedule interviews, type memorandum of interviews, and work collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies to obtain documents and reports
• Organize all of the pertinent information relating to a case and write detailed case summaries for the Chief Deputy District Attorney’s review and determination if criminal investigation is warranted.
• Communicate with complainant regarding Chief’s decision
• At Chief’s direction, draft intervention letters informing suspect of the complaint and follow up correspondence with complainant.
• Coordinate suspect’s response with Chief to determine subsequent course of action
• Assist At-Risk Investigator with immediate response to reports of financial exploitation of at-risk adults as well as assist unit investigators gather and analyze additional case-related research, interviews, and evidence, and provide research support to unit attorneys as requested
• Conduct in-depth research and assistance to Chief Deputy District Attorney and/or District Attorney in specialized cases, and initial investigation in complaints referred by city agencies, administration, or council
• Assist Investigations Technician obtain documentation necessary for filing Motions to Determine Factual Innocence in cases of identity theft.
• Contact collateral agencies when needed
• Report at-risk complaints to Denver Department of Human Services Adult Protective Services, as required by C.R.S. 18-6.5-108 Mandatory Reporting.
• Refer mandatory reporters to appropriate jurisdiction if applicable.
• Coordinate law enforcement cases with Denver Police Department as needed
• Serve as District Attorney’s Office representative at Denver Better Business Bureau Investigations Team meetings and SSA-OIG US Attorney’s Office Social Services Fraud Workgroup
• Respond to the community as the Denver DA’s Office Fraud Hotline, providing information and referral to callers regarding a wide-range of consumer issues not criminal in nature, as well as respond to consumer, law enforcement, and administrative agencies’ inquiries received by mail and email, and respond to general inquiries received via email by the DA’s Office Public Information Officer
• Maintain copies of Grand Jury transcripts and exhibits in a secure manner, and adhere to the requirements of grand jury statutes, rules and instructions.
• Assist Grand Jury Clerk as requested
• Run criminal histories for office interns and provide records to Intern Coordinator for review
• Prepare ECU intake statistics quarterly and annual reports
