Program Coordinator/Scheduler
About The Position
Harborview Float Pool has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Coordinator/Scheduler. This is a full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) Day Shift position, working Mondays through Fridays. Harborview Medical Center is the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine. It is dedicated to providing specialized care for a broad spectrum of patients from throughout the Pacific Northwest, including the most vulnerable residents of King County. It provides exemplary patient care in leading-edge centers of emphasis, including emergency medicine, trauma and burn care, neurosciences, ophthalmology, vascular surgery, HIV/AIDS, rehabilitation, mental health and substance abuse care. Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience
Responsibilities
- Triage medical information in a specific medical or surgical specialty
- Schedule post-surgery diagnostic procedures and follow-up patient appointments
- Act as a liaison between patients, consulting physician, referring physician, or outside agency to coordinate patient appointments, admission, or surgery.
- Coordinate the exchange of information either written or verbally before and after patients are seen
- Coordinate anesthesia
- Obtain all necessary medical records, diagnostic studies, pathology items, etc., that are needed for patient care
- Assist in scheduling new patient appointments by triaging to appropriate department and physician
- Enter appointment information in online appointment system
- Coordinate pre-admission tests and procedures
- Schedule and ensure pre-anesthesia works-ups are completed
- Coordinate the direct transfer of patients from outside hospitals to UWMC with physicians, medical staff, and Admitting
- Other assigned duties
