About The Position

Connective is a dynamic non-profit organization that provides innovative programming in the social services sector. We strive to create safe, healthy, and inclusive communities for all. This position will plan, develop, implement, and oversee the day-to-day operation of Connective’s Program(s) as well as supervise the program staff. This is a unionized position open to applicants of all genders, located in Maple Ridge, British Columbia.

Requirements

  • A university Degree in a relevant branch of the Behavioural Sciences with an emphasis on Social Work, Sociology, and/or Psychology
  • Direct and extensive experience, a minimum of 3 years, in the delivery of supports and services in a correctional and/or community-based setting, and specifically relating to the criminal justice system or community social services sector
  • Ability to be comfortable interacting with persons who have been involved in the criminal justice system and/or are high risk/high needs/high profile individuals
  • Demonstrated competence in identifying, approaching and securing both short- and long-term funding from appropriate sources
  • Extensive knowledge of government and community justice services
  • A strong ability to work with persons in crisis and persons who are disconnected from their support network
  • Extensive experience recruiting, screening, training, deploying and supervising volunteers and practicum students
  • Experience in and comfort with public speaking
  • Knowledge of word processing
  • Excellent written, verbal, interviewing and assessment skills
  • Experience with supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Experience with facilitating, creating and/or running programs
  • Ability to successfully complete a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records Check
  • Ability to successfully pass a reference check
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Personal transportation that is in good repair, insured for business up to $1,000,000 for liability, and which can be used to transport clients
  • Proof of vaccination for communicable diseases may be required as mandated by Government, Health Authority, and/or funder requirements
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Observe weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa
  • Provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, implement, and oversee the day-to-day operation of Connective’s Program(s).
  • Supervise program staff, volunteers, and practicum placements.
  • Facilitate the delivery of programs and initiatives to adults, and their families and loved ones, relating to effective intervention and community reintegration.
  • Liaise with Connective staff to support agency initiatives and deliver client-centred services.
  • Liaise with other community and government agencies.
  • Plan and develop the program/s in consultation with the supervisor.
  • Plan and implement program activities and special events.
  • Formulate program/s policies and procedures and evaluate the program/s in consultation with the supervisor.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the program/s by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.
  • Provide direct support services as assigned by Program Manager.
  • Supervise program/s staff by performing duties such as assigning work, providing feedback on performance, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of program staff by performing duties such as screening applicants, participating on interview panels, and making hiring recommendations.
  • Schedule program staff in accordance with program staffing requirements.
  • Orient, determine the need for and provide training to program staff, volunteers, and practicum students.
  • Monitor and authorize program/s expenditures and maintain financial records.
  • Prepare the program budget for submission and presentation to senior management and/or the Board of Directors.
  • Promote public awareness of and support for the program by producing promotional materials and attending community events.
  • Liaise with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program, and represent the organization or program in external events.
  • Maintain related records and statistics and produce reports as required.
  • Travel to other program sites as deemed necessary.
  • On-call availability as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
