About The Position

The Program Coordinator I supports the mission of Jackson County Public Health by assisting with the coordination, implementation, and day-to-day operations of public health programs. This role provides administrative, logistical, and outreach support, helping ensure programs run efficiently, meet compliance standards, and effectively serve the community.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field or a combination of equivalent education and 3 years of experience
  • Strong interpersonal communications, group process, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
  • Comfort with data entry, scheduling, and documentation
  • Ability to support events, logistics, and program tasks with guidance
  • Experience working with diverse communities and cultures
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to present to large audiences
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks
  • Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up with minimal direction
  • If driving is required, must meet Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health education, social work, or a related field
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience
  • Basic knowledge of behavioral epidemiology and health promotion principles

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support program activities, meetings, events, and outreach efforts
  • Maintain accurate records, databases, and program documentation
  • Track deliverables, deadlines, and reporting requirements
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and performance monitoring to support program improvement
  • Engage with community partners, stakeholders, and participants to support program goals
  • Represent JCPH at community events and public forums
  • Support culturally responsive, community-driven programming
  • Assist with budget tracking, grant support, and compliance reporting
  • Prepare reports for leadership, funders, and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, funding requirements, and public health standards
  • Participate in quality improvement, training, and emergency response activities as needed
  • Support a collaborative, inclusive, and professional team environment
