About The Position

The Department of Revenue's core mission is to collect the revenues required to support the business of the Commonwealth, to make a difference in the lives of children by enforcing the financial responsibilities of parenthood, and to assist Massachusetts cities and towns in sound and efficient fiscal management. The Digital Communications Program Coordinator creates graphic designs, photos, videos, and multimedia production work in support of the Department's communications and public outreach activities. Working under the guidance of the Communications and Digital Services team producing visual content for websites, social media, publications, presentations, emails, and internal communications. This is a hands-on production position intended for individuals interested in developing skills in graphic design, photography, videography, accessibility, and digital communications. The Department provides on-the-job training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • At least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis.
  • A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.
  • A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
  • Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
  • Background check that includes checks for: state and federal tax compliance; child support compliance; education verification; Massachusetts CORI checks; criminal background checks in state(s) of current and previous residence/employment; validation of eligibility to work in the United States; and national fingerprint-based criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Design social media graphics, flyers, brochures, reports, presentations, web graphics, email graphics, and other communications materials.
  • Update existing templates and promotional materials.
  • Photograph department meetings, events, ceremonies, outreach activities, and employee recognition events.
  • Record and edit short videos for social media, websites, presentations, and internal communications
  • Assist in creating visual content for department websites, intranet pages, and social media.
  • Create accessible digital communications.
  • Participate in training related to accessibility and digital communications.
  • Organize and maintain digital libraries of photographs, videos, graphics, and templates.
  • Assist with maintaining photography, video, and lighting equipment.
  • Coordinates and monitors assigned program activities to ensure effective operations and compliance with established standards.
  • Review and analyze data concerning social media to determine progress and effectiveness, to make recommendations for changes
  • Updates external and internal website content as needed.
