The Program Coordinator duties are organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the development of strategic plans. Additional Responsibilities include serving as a liaison between healthcare partners, maintaining regular communication with the clerkship program on student placement information and preceptor requirements, partnering with practice and healthcare leaders to identify physician preceptors, and working with practice leaders and providers to identify and mitigate barriers to precepting students. This role also aids in efforts of recruitment and retention of preceptors, including at rural sites, and coordinates all aspects of student placement within Family Medicine practices. This includes facilitating Cerner training and onboarding, providing information to students and preceptors, assisting in creating student rotation schedules, serving as a point of contact for preceptors and practice leadership, working with area agents to identify housing for rural rotations, and helping students complete registration. The role also contributes to the distribution and collection of relevant required paperwork and documentation from preceptors, facilitates communication around applicable provider payment documentation, and ensures the clerkship’s preceptor onboarding, retention, and adjunct faculty accreditation process is consistent with guidelines.
