About The Position

When you drive on county roads, fly from a neighborhood airport, or pull over for that snowplow on your way to Julian, you have interacted with our department. Your safety and convenience matter to us, and we make sure nearly 2,000 miles of roadways, bridges and guardrails, signs, traffic signals and crosswalks are ready for you, as well as the seven County airports we operate including McClellan-Palomar, Gillespie Field and Ramona. The County of San Diego is currently accepting job applications for a Program Coordinator with the primary function of utility relocation coordination. The current vacancies are in the Department of Public Works (DPW), Capital Improvement Program (CIP); however, this eligible list may also be used to fill additional vacancies in various County of San Diego departments. As the Program Coordinator responsible for utility coordination, you will act as a liaison among stakeholders coordinating with government officials, utility company representatives, contractors, outside agencies, consultants, and internal business partners on project design and construction-related activities. In addition, the program coordinator within CIP is also responsible for coordinating a wide variety of capital infrastructure projects, including roadway, active transportation, traffic improvement, bridge, flood control, drainage, water quality, airport, and wastewater projects. The incumbent will work with project teams and utility agencies to clear utility conflicts and support the development of capital projects. The incumbent will also be responsible for understanding and updating agency franchise agreements, as well as understanding local, state and Federal regulations that apply to utility relocations and management of utility relocations, adjustments, and account transfers.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or certified foreign studies equivalency, AND, four (4) years of professional experience performing analysis, budget management, program administration, engineering, or closely related work in a program performing planning and analysis; OR a combination of education and/or experience as stated above.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience planning and managing support for programs, projects, and facilities with heavy administrative, policy, and/or technical issues
  • Experience working as a liaison with utility companies
  • Familiarity with California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) rules and guidance
