About The Position

Performs a variety of duties including overseeing day-to-day activities in the Center for Literacy Education and assisting the Director in carrying out their duties and responsibilities. This is a part-time position working 15 hours per week during the academic semester, based on need.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and similar Google tools.
  • Proficiency in database programs and other software.
  • Ability to organize office workflow and prioritize work assignments.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact with faculty, staff, and administrators with diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to help faculty as needed.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to update skills on a continual basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree with three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Some college level business-related courses and progressive administrative/office management experience.
  • General knowledge of WFU budget system and financial and accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with programs such as Workday, WordPress, Cvent, and Canva.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Center’s director, making decisions regarding the day-to-day operations of the Center in keeping with the director’s vision.
  • Works closely with the Center’s associate director, if applicable, at the direction of the Center’s director.
  • Coordinates the Center’s programming, events, and partnerships at the direction of the director, including managing event details, accommodations, and schedules.
  • Coordinates grant applications and awards at the direction of the director.
  • Oversees student assistants in the direction of the director.
  • Assists director in all budgetary matters.
  • Assesses purchasing needs and recommends purchasing Center materials.
  • Researches and makes recommendations regarding financing special events.
  • Reconciles budgets.
  • Processes financial transactions, p-card transactions, and Center invoices using Workday.
  • Assists with maintaining and fostering networks and connections with partners.
  • Collects/compiles/prepares information, such as annual reports, newsletters, bulletin boards, faculty/staff development forms, payroll forms, and additional memos, letters, reports, etc.
  • Assists with updates and maintenance of the Center website, social media, and other digital platforms.
  • Assists with all processes related to faculty and staff (e.g., recruitment/on-boarding, leaves, travel, course buyouts, exits.)
  • Responds to additional administrative needs of affiliated faculty and staff under the direction of the director.
  • Assists director in end-of-year reporting, including data collection, data analysis, and annual updates.
