About The Position

This is an opportunity to plan and execute programs and events at the Newnan Carnegie Library with an emphasis on adult and senior programs. This position is part time at 26 hours per week with shifts in the afternoon, Saturday mornings, and occasional evenings.

Requirements

  • Moderate experience working in programming or event management
  • Proficient in computer usage to include internet, Microsoft Office, Canva, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Ability to plan events and stay organized
  • Ability to relate well to the public
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Required pre-employment screenings include criminal background check, motor vehicle history, drug screening, and blood alcohol testing

Nice To Haves

  • Associates/Technical degree in English, business, library science, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop, conduct, and promote programs and activities with an emphasis on adult and senior programs; schedule and implement programs; coordinate and communicate with service providers.
  • Assist Carnegie Director in maintaining and updating social media channels and website.
  • Maintain the Library calendar on the website and in print.
  • Prepare press releases, publicity flyers, public service announcements, and other materials publicizing library programming; design and create bulletin boards and displays promoting library material and events.
  • Assist the public and patrons with computer usage; answer questions; locate books and other materials.
  • Plan, direct, and provide outreach services including library tours as needed.
