About The Position

This position is available only to enrolled American University students. The Program Associate (PA) is an undergraduate part-time student staff member of the SIS Global Scholars Program and collaborates with Housing & Residence Life. The PA fulfills a vital role in the residence hall system by helping students integrate learning experiences gained from both inside and outside of the classroom. The primary function of the PA is to enhance the out-of-classroom learning for students in the Three-Year Scholars Program. Additionally, the PA is responsible for facilitating interpersonal relationships and creating living communities that maximize the opportunities for students to learn and grow. The Global Scholars Program provides first year students with opportunities to create connections among in-class instruction, residential living, and out-of-class experiences. The PA reports to the Global Scholars Program Director, who serves as the primary supervisor of the PA. The PA is also expected to work closely with other staff members within the residence hall, other faculty, as well as campus partners. Emphasis is placed on the concept that the PA is an active and integral staff member within the total campus community.
