About The Position

This position will collaborate and coordinate programming of new physical security infrastructure via the Lenel and Genetec platforms, and implement processes and workflows that efficiently maintain the Department’s day-to-day operations. The role provides administrative support, including customer service and tier 1 support for phone calls, software tickets, and hardware tickets. The Program Assistant will assist with meeting deadlines for Physical Security projects, provide project status updates, and monitor work request tickets, verifying security equipment functionality and website content development. Additionally, this position serves as the Department’s assistant UF identity management coordinator, maintaining data related to faculty and staff identification in the UF Directory. Other administrative responsibilities include maintaining the Space Report, acting as the Department Security Administrator (DSA), and overseeing Asset Management to ensure assets are accounted for and properly identified according to university policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Class E State of Florida Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of office procedures
  • Knowledge of the principles of correct grammar usage
  • Knowledge of university computer information systems (PeopleSoft)
  • Knowledge of basic computer usage
  • Ability to sort data alphabetically, numerically and categorically
  • Ability to organize files, records and/or other materials
  • Ability to follow office procedures and practices
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to handle routine customer and employee request
  • Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions per state specification

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in IT or Programming Technology, or an equivalent combination of experience in an appropriate area and two years of software helpdesk experience.
  • Experience working at the University of Florida, and/or higher education.
  • Basic knowledge of an access control and/or video management system.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to successfully manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in dealing with the public in a professional manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, ability to work independently and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and a customer service-oriented attitude are essential for success in this position.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), familiarity with MS Visio, Windows, and Internet browsers (preferably Internet Explorer).

Responsibilities
