About The Position

Washington State University's College of Arts and Sciences is now accepting applications for a Program Assistant to support the Department of Chemistry. As a Program Assistant you will provide comprehensive academic, programmatic, administrative support for the Department of Chemistry’s undergraduate programs. You will serve as the primary resource for undergraduate students, faculty, and academic leadership, including the Director of Undergraduate Studies and Director of Foundational Studies. Your duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: undergraduate course scheduling and enrollment management; coordination of undergraduate curriculum, assessment, and accreditation activities, preparation of data reports and recruitment materials; coordination of undergraduate events and outreach initiatives; administration of awards and scholarships; and administrative support for departmental faculty, students, and staff. In this role you will also provide limited administrative and operational support for graduate program operations as needed.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet established deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound, professional judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with course scheduling, enrollment, management, registration processes, or student record keeping, or related experience.
  • Experience supporting faculty, academic committees, and departmental leadership.
  • Experience preparing communications, websites, newsletters, marketing materials, or social media content.
