About The Position

Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks a Program Assistant to serve as a representative of La CASA (Cultural Appreciation and Student Advocacy) and provides administrative, program, and student support that fosters a welcoming and inclusive space for Hispanic/Latine and other marginalized student populations. This position supports the planning and delivery of events, workshops, and programs; provides information, mentorship, and referrals to campus resources; and assists with communications, outreach, budgeting, data tracking, and daily operations. Through these responsibilities, this position directly contributes to the Inclusivo Strategic Plan, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, and the college’s mission of fostering academic excellence, engaged citizenship, and lifelong learning while empowering underrepresented student populations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year experience working with or providing support to multicultural or marginalized populations
  • Ability to obtain Food Worker’s Card within 90-days of hire
  • Possession of a valid U.S. driver's license or ability to obtain one before date of hire
  • Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Maintain front desk coverage through student employee scheduling and provide direction to student employees to ensure consistent customer service and daily office operations
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming, and functional La CASA environment, including common areas, supplies, and equipment; manage inventory and track supplies using spreadsheets and other department systems
  • Maintain accurate program records, communications, and operational information while supporting the effective day-to-day administration of La CASA programs and services
  • Schedule meetings, presentations, workshops, and events with speakers and campus departments using Outlook, Zoom, and 25Live; manage registration, check-in, vendors, room layouts, virtual access, and workshop materials
  • Develop and distribute promotional materials, newsletters, and digital content for La CASA using Canva, Lytho, Mailchimp, and Microsoft Forms, in coordination with the CBC Marketing team and accessibility requirements
  • Respond to inquiries regarding La CASA programs, events, services, and resources through email, phone, and in-person communication; provide student mentorship, referrals, and soft hand-offs to academic, financial, and personal support resources
  • Support La CASA programming by proposing new activities based on student feedback and data, distributing surveys, tracking responses, and identifying opportunities to improve student engagement and services
  • Process and monitor program expenditures, including Professional Service Contracts, requisitions, P-Card exception requests, expense reports, and reconciliations through ctcLink, E-Forms, and Excel; identify discrepancies and provide budget information to the Director
  • Track and report event attendance and daily space use using SARS Trak, Excel, 25Live, and LibApps; prepare monthly reports and maintain accurate program records
  • Manage reservations and use of La CASA spaces, including the kitchen, through 25Live and LibApps; document required training and waivers and ensure appropriate access
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Benefits

  • The typical work hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; however, must be available to work a flexible schedule when prior notice is given by the College.
