About The Position

Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks a Program Assistant to independently support the daily operations of the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) while helping to create an inclusive and positive environment for participants. This grant-funded position is dedicated to inspiring and empowering migrant students throughout their educational journey. The Program Assistant reports to the Director for CAMP. This position closes on August 9, 2026 @ 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of clerical experience
  • Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for CAMP participants; provide program and admission information as well as policies and activities; answer the telephone; receive and refer visitors; maintain and order office supplies.
  • Assist CAMP staff in reviewing all eligible student applicants and aid in selecting the new cohort; schedule students.
  • Compile and distribute information related to CAMP activities; collaborate with other campus programs, departments, and external agencies, such as the Department of Education; attend or represent CAMP at events and field trips.
  • Coordinate and schedule CAMP program logistics, such as CAMP meetings, conferences and banquets.
  • Assist in monitoring the CAMP budget by keeping the Director informed of budget status; help set projections and develop budget reports; track and prepare expenditures with appropriate documentation.
  • Maintain and assist in identifying any supplemental grant monies.
  • Establish and maintain a functional filing system for CAMP student records, files, and other CAMP documents, contracts, reports and correspondence.
  • Assist students in understanding account balances, tuition and payment obligations; provide information on funding resources, deadlines and financial aid; support students with basic registration and financial aid processes.
  • Track and monitor student worker payroll and all CAMP activities for reporting purposes, including required reports to CBC, the Office of Migrant Education and the Department of Education.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • The typical work hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; however, must be available to work a flexible schedule when prior notice is given by the College.
