About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, provides technical support for both the teaching laboratories and the Lab Manager for assigned program. Performs routine laboratory and general technical tasks necessary for daily operation of instructional laboratories. Collects, prepares, cleans, and stores glassware and other lab equipment. Stocks and prepares media, reagents, chemical solutions and stains. Maintains records and files. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares reagents and solutions specific to the science area assigned, using established standards. Sets up laboratory for science lab experiments and exercises; distributes and arranges equipment, models and other related material. Assists in the operation and maintenance of instructional labs. Participates in the planning and implementation of exercises and experiments. Implements new or modified policies and procedures. Prepares special instructions for non-routine and complex assignments, Complies with the correct procedures, policies, and health and safety regulations. Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and completion of at least one college-level science laboratory course
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory safety protocols
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Experience or ability to work with, troubleshoot, and maintain assigned equipment
  • Ability to be accurate and detailed oriented, use sound judgement, multi-task, be people oriented, and work independently as well as with others.
