About The Position

The Mission SRO Collaborative (MSROC) aims to enhance living conditions and empower tenants in Single Room Occupancy (SRO) hotels within San Francisco's Mission District. Its programs include outreach, tenant stabilization services, and community workshops on topics like fire prevention, disaster preparedness, tenant rights, and housing justice. Mission Action leads the Collaborative, partnering with Causa Justa, Just Cause, the Mission Neighborhood Resource Center, and the Women’s Community Clinic. The Program Assistant II provides essential administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth operation of MSROC and its administrative department. This role assists the Program Manager with various organizational and communication tasks, and directly supports tenant leaders in their organizing and campaign efforts.

Requirements

  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds including multiply-diagnosed low-income populations, people who are marginally housed, LGBTQ individuals, people of color and persons with disabilities
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends
  • Commitment to social justice issues, and familiarity with MSROC and DSCS mission and organizational work
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual Spanish/English, spoken and written required
  • Basic computer knowledge, ability to use Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of or ability to be trained on database software

Responsibilities

  • Support program with administrative work, such as making flyers, inputting data, and organizing outreach and training materials
  • Prepare and organize tenant events and holiday parties
  • Support team with coordination, preparation, and facilitation of monthly tenant meetings
  • Contact tenant leaders for meetings and events
  • Conduct outreach in SROs in the Mission
  • Support and lead tenant volunteer phonebank and outreach shifts
  • Front Desk Management: Greet and assist visitors, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls and emails.
  • Maintain the reception area, ensuring it is tidy and presentable at all times.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries.
  • Manage office supplies purchasing and inventory
  • Office Operations: Organize and schedule meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
  • Maintain office equipment and coordinate repairs or maintenance as necessary.
  • Monitor and manage office supply inventory, placing orders when necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Maintain and update company databases and records.
  • Support HR as needed.
  • Event Coordination: Assist in planning and organizing company events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Coordinate logistics such as catering, venue arrangements, and transportation.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure office operations comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Implement and maintain safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and report any hazards or issues.
  • Conduct business in accordance with the Mission Action Employee Handbook, exercising sound judgment and serving the best interests of the agency and the community.
  • Commit yourself to treating each community member with respect and dignity.
