The Division of Property Taxation (DPT) is responsible for coordinating and administering property tax law across Colorado to ensure uniform valuations and fair taxation for all property classes. This involves providing technical assessment assistance, promoting property valuation equalization, and supporting various governmental bodies including the Governor, General Assembly, and State Boards. The division also develops policy manuals, advanced education curricula, and provides on-site training and assistance to county assessors and their staff. This position offers programmatic and administrative support to the Property Tax Administrator and the Division of Property Taxation. It assists the Budget Analyst, serves as the Board Coordinator for State Board of Equalization and Statutory Advisory Committee meetings, and aids in the coordination of the Law Seminar and New Assessor Orientation. Key responsibilities include assembling and distributing the DPT weekly bulletin, arranging travel and meetings, drafting meeting minutes, performing data entry, maintaining the division’s website, and providing customer service to county officials, taxpayers, legislators, and the public. The role also assists in gathering data and assembling the Annual Report to the Governor. This position acts as the program administrator for the Division’s Education Program, overseeing registrations, invoicing, completion certificates, scheduling, and venue reservations. It provides assistance to county assessors, assessment staff, and internal instructors regarding the education program, monitors and updates the education calendar, and prepares course materials. The role involves interpreting and applying basic principles, rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines relevant to work assignments. Direct administrative support is provided to the Property Tax Administrator, Deputy Director, and State Assessed Section, including ordering office supplies and managing equipment. The position is the direct staff member responsible for coordinating and supporting the State Board of Equalization (SBOE) and the Statutory Advisory Committee (SAC), including creating meeting notices, scheduling, and communicating with members, internal staff, external auditors, and Attorney General representatives. The role also involves maintaining the Division website, ensuring all information is current, and coordinating updates with DOLA’s Digital Communications Team. Additionally, the position handles data input and support for the State Assessed Section, including logging extension requests and Annual Statements of Property, tracking extensions, and entering data from company Annual Statements of Property.
