About The Position

Work independently under the direction of the faculty member serving as the Program Director or designee to oversee the coordination, training and technical assistance, research, analysis, and program evaluation needs for multiple public health initiatives. The primary responsibilities for this position will be to provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the team to facilitate the achievement of the program’s goals and to manage and engage in direct activities for program evaluation and research. The position also places a strong emphasis on working with partners and other stakeholders within MCW, the local community, and across Wisconsin. This position will help to lead multi-disciplinary project teams with diverse community, agency, and academic partners and provide data management, analysis, evaluation and reporting with a focus on violence, overdose, and injury prevention.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of evaluation, analysis, and research methodologies and experience manipulating, analyzing, and reporting on a variety of datasets
  • Knowledge of project management priciples
  • Knowledge of budgeting, grant writing, and resource management
  • Fundamentals of public health, criminal justice, prevention approaches to key public health topics (violence, overdose, injury, etc.) and current or emerging issues in these areas
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage complex projects and meet established goals and deadlines
  • Ability to synthesize data and information and present evaluation or research findings and recommendations both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences, such as agency leadership, policy makers, researchers, practitioners, and community groups
  • Ability to develop evaluation plans, logic models, and key measures or indicators
  • Ability to work effectively with people from various backgrounds and to demonstrate cultural awareness
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, make complex decisions, and request direction as needed
  • Ability to prioritize competing requests and demands for time and resources, and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to develop positive and effective working relationships with colleagues, internal and external partners and skill in coalition building and establishing trust
  • Skill in effectively leading meetings with multidisciplinary partners, stakeholders, and community members
  • Skills in developing deliverables for executives, program managers and policy makers, including demonstrated experience in publishing written research or evaluation reports
  • Skill in utilizing a variety of standard software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint
  • Skill in utilizing and learning specialized software for data access, management, visualization, and analysis such as Stata, SAS, SPSS, R, ESRI ArcGIS/ArcMap, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Python, JavaScript, MaxQDA,etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8 years of experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee program timeline including tracking deadlines for program deliverables.
  • Provide direct leadership, training, and on-boarding to assigned team members and contribute to overall team leadership.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive databases, program documents, and shared file locations while maintaining data quality, security and confidentiality.
  • Serve as a primary coordination point for program and project outreach and engagement activities including acting as a liaison and convene with internal MCW partners and external agencies including other academic institutions, government organizations (local, state, federal), and community-based organizations.
  • Lead training and technical assistance to partners, stakeholders, or grantees related to specific projects or initiatives.
  • Collaborate with researchers, program staff, as well as internal and external stakeholders in designing and carrying out methodologically sound evaluation studies.
  • Prepare or review written, analytical, or evaluation reports and effectively communicate data, findings, results, and recommendations to a variety of audiences.
  • Oversee the collection and utilization of a variety of quantitative and qualitative data sources based on the project or evaluation design.
  • Ensure that all data, reports, presentations and other materials are produced with the highest standards for clarity, accuracy, and methodology.
  • Lead multidisciplinary meetings with a variety of partner agencies to identify trends and collaboratively identify recommendations for potential system changes or improvements.
  • Manage the program budget and participate in the development of grant applications related to program work and funding.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional policies.
  • Participate on appropriate committees relevant to the advancement of the program and the profession or area of research.
