About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a command headquarters level senior program analyst planning, organizing, and determining necessary policies, regulations, directives, programs, doctrine, and procedures for the establishment and maintenance of assigned major command (MAJCOM) programs involving Air Force space/cyberspace operations. Applying Air Force military technical training experience, analyzes, develops, and evaluates detailed plans, goals, and objectives for long-range implementation of assigned major command program(s). Documents planning and programming decisions/recommendations in appropriate formats to meet Air Force and Major Command requirements. Actively participates in strategic planning to improve organizational direction and focus using strategic planning tools and techniques. Prepares and delivers oral presentations such as briefings, training sessions, consultations, and strategy sessions with other staff service functions and activities to secure cooperation, resolve controversial matters, and convey information relative to proposed changes in assigned program(s).

  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Expert knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of critical command plans and programs for participating in or conducting major technical training activities such as Basic Military Training (BMT), Weapons Director, Missile Maintenance, Civil Engineering, Cyberspace Support, aircraft/vehicle maintenance, Security Forces, Pararescue/Combat control, Mission Readiness training, Communications/Electronic Principles, Advance Distributive Learning, Global Command and Control System, Intelligence/Cryptologic, tactical training, deployment, mobilization, PPBE, acquisition, special operations, exercise, training systems, foreign military sales, contingency, or similar operations.
  • Knowledge of military command structure, missions, programs, and organizational relationships and program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones, and methods of evaluating the effectiveness of planning actions as related to actual events.
  • Knowledge of the various command entities involved in overall planning and execution of operations and evaluations.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of command level plans and programs for conducting major operations such as technical training activities, deployment, mobilization, exercise, training systems, foreign military sales, Planning, Programming, &Budgeting System (PPBE), acquisition, special operations, or similar operations.
  • Knowledge of military (including command level) program goals and objectives; the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones; methods of evaluating the effectiveness of planning actions related to actual events; and the relationship of the various command entities involved in overall program planning and execution of military operations and evaluations.
  • Knowledge of the application of training group operations expertise as they apply to programs and weapons systems.
  • Skill in designing and conducting comprehensive studies and preparing solutions to especially broad, important, and severe military operational and contingency areas.
  • Ability to plan and organize studies or projects and to negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations, where proposals involve substantial resources, and require extensive changes in established concepts and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; negotiates complex issues; and maintains good working relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Air Force space, missile, and/or cyberspace operations experience is highly desirable.
