For more information, visit: https://www.ifc.org The Africa RVP Front Office is looking for a Program Analyst based in Washington, DC, who will primarily work with the Chief Program Manager, who assists the Vice President in developing and implementing the strategy of the Africa region, including the implementing special projects and initiatives across the region. The highly motivated and well-organized Program Analyst will coordinate with HQs, country teams to: (a) act as administrative liaison between the COs team and RVP front office; (b) provide high quality and high level and cost-effective in-person and virtual conferences and other events in Africa and outside of the continent; (c) organize high profile missions such as MD/VP official missions, Africa CEO Forum, AFIS, etc. The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills and experience working under high pressure and long hours, handling concurrent activities and establishing priorities. Duties include but are not limited to :

Requirements

  • A university degree combined with 5 years relevant work of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Strong quantitative skills, including use and analysis of large data sets.
  • Strong command of verbal and written communication skills in English and French.
  • Strong record of producing high volume and high-quality events; proven capacity to multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Proactive and seek guidance as and when needed.
  • Ability to conduct research and analysis on difficult, but well-defined tasks; articulate issues and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to draft components of major reports, working papers.
  • Ability to effectively provide professional support to senior staff.
  • Experience in building and maintaining positive business relationships
  • Strong initiative and record of performance with low supervisory requirements to fund effectively as a member of team within high pressure work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-demand operational support to the Chief Program Manager in charge of developing and implementing the strategy of the Africa region, including the implementing special projects/initiatives across the region.
  • Conduct sector and market research and assist in preparing country and sector strategy papers, briefs, and project profiles. This would require working closely with country and sector teams.
  • Provide direct support on selected initiatives and projects as agreed with the Chief Program Manager.
  • Assist senior members of the Front Office in a time-sensitive and constructive manner.
  • Support tracking of the investment and advisory pipeline, key performance indicators, and impact indicators of the Africa VPU.
  • Participate in the preparation for Senior Management visits to the region, including contributing to the development of mission documents.
  • Support on-demand research and data collection and contribute to the drafting of reports, proposals, and briefs.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of regional events.
  • Conduct industry and market research.
  • Providing a broad range of analytical and liaison functions coordinating closely with RVP Front office, regional and CO teams, including the preparation of the materials for the Annual and Spring Meetings.
  • Working with relevant teams to develop strategy, work program, and action plans for the delivery of cost-effective conferences, VVP missions and other events in Africa and outside Africa as needed.
  • Assist with the management of all aspects of event planning, meet strict deadlines, and stay within budget.
  • Nurturing and building relationships with vendors and other industry contacts while crafting and implementing the creative and logistical aspects of all events.
  • Remain current (or ahead of the curve) with trends in event planning, design, and production; and proactively identify and solve operational challenges.
  • Coordinate with internal staff, clients, and vendors to establish the requirements for an event, and serve as liaison to senior executives, government officials, and industry leaders throughout the planning process.
  • Visit sites and lead pre-event meetings to help staff make decisions about event design.
  • Plan and facilitate logistics for all events across the region.
  • Assist with the preparation of participant lists, venue selection if applicable, presentation materials, security, catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, decor, and marketing materials.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive database of industry contacts, vendors, and venues.
  • Serve as liaison between HQ and field office teams.
  • Provide coaching and training to ACS across the regions involved in event organizations.
  • Handle ad hoc duties as assigned by the supervisor.
