About The Position

Provide Data Center Management subject matter expertise for customer’s remote locations, focusing on data center planning, management, and execution. This role requires a deep understanding of all Data Center Management functions and activities, as well as the ability to articulate enterprise directives, processes, and procedures. The individual will ensure efficient management, planning, allocation, and utilization of data center power, space, and cooling (PSC) resources for their designated locations. Responsibilities include reviewing and recommending changes to data centers through the Request for Change (RFC) process, reviewing data center activities with site leadership and enterprise facility organizations, and recommending/assisting with the implementation of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools. The role also involves reviewing and recommending updates to site’s Data Center Strategic Plans for government data centers and representing the organization in appropriate integration boards. Additionally, the position will assist with efforts facilitating system transition to cloud environments and downsizing of local data centers.

  • 15+ years of related experience with programs of similar size, scope, and complexity
  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree
  • TS/SCI w/ Poly security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Attend milestone meetings (e.g., preliminary design review, site survey, pre-ship audit/review, operational acceptance review) to evaluate system-level impacts on site data center baselines, including site integration requirements adherence and PSC requirements.
  • Support technical exchange meetings (TEM) with Acquisition Offices (AO) / system owners to facilitate requirements analysis.
  • Analyze system-level power, space, and cooling requirements for all AO / system owner installations, modifications, and decommissioning efforts.
  • Review, analyze, and comment on Change Requests (RFCs, Non-Standard Service Requests, or Request Items (RITMs)) that impact site PSC resources, and coordinate DC-related impacts and adherence to site integration requirements.
  • Support permit reviews.
  • Assist with the development and support implementation of the site’s Data Center Strategic Plan.
  • Assist with the management of equipment rack relocations with stakeholders as part of DC renovation activities.
  • Review site integration and applicable DC technical standards as part of the appropriate policy update process.
  • Support DC project funding requests and coordinate with organizational leadership and site facility teams.
  • Assist with the development and coordination of DC requirements for organization data center project activities with site facility managers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support consolidated system-level impacts for large-scale facility renovation projects (e.g., roof projects, site power/cooling distribution systems, room Power Distribution Units (PDUs)/Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRACs)).
  • Review and comment on data center renovation designs with design partners (Government/Commercial) and implementation via internal/external construction teams.
  • Ensure PSC resources are optimized by coordinating with local facility stakeholders and rack/system owners.
  • Support written and oral program-level briefings for senior management and cross-agency personnel.
  • Coordinate/respond to all Action Items that impact site data centers (e.g., PSC Quarterly, annual Federal Data Center Call).
  • Utilize site and enterprise configuration management tools (e.g., Nlyte, Archibus, AutoCAD, floor drawings, other DCIM products) to assist in analyzing PSC requirements and data updates to maintain an accurate site data center baseline.
  • Review, provide feedback, and assist with the implementation of enterprise data center directives, processes, and procedures.
  • If DCIM tools are available, assist with the development and maintenance of the site’s “PSC Dashboard” for site leadership insight, and possible future integration with the enterprise PSC dashboard and Government Leadership insight.
  • Assist with the development and management of site-level PSC metrics and data distribution to stakeholders.
  • Assist with the management and implementation of site-level data center processes/procedures.
  • Assist sites with the evaluation of current access control infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
  • Evaluate potential for incorporating existing enterprise DC access request tools.
  • Work with sites to adopt standardized DC access processes.
  • Travel to various California locations, Colorado Springs, CO, and Cape Canaveral, FL.
