About The Position

This position is responsible for planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating activities within specific program areas such as Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education. The role involves promoting member safety, quality programs, and branch appearance, while providing guidance and role modeling. The Program Aide plans, organizes, and implements a range of program services and activities, promotes participation, and assists with member registration and orientation. This role also includes assisting with driving children to and from school and field trips, participating in staff meetings, and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the Center facilities and grounds. Additional responsibilities include completing monthly statistics, participating in special programs or events, and performing other related work as required, including driving a van or bus when needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the standard rules and techniques of athletic sports such as baseball, basketball, and football.
  • Ability to build effective and positive relationships with people of all ages.
  • Ability to lead and motivate people participating in recreational activities.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Six months experience coaching and supervising athletic events.
  • Experience maintaining grounds.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid State Drivers' License.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to perform various yard work including raking, loading, and hauling grass, leaves, pine straw, dirt, etc.
  • Ability to operate yard maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area such as Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education.
  • Promotes safety of members, quality in programs, and appearance of the branch at all times.
  • Provides guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements a range of program services and activities for drop in members and visitors; provides periodic activity reports.
  • Promotes and stimulates program participation; registers new members and participates in the program orientation process.
  • Assists in driving children to/from school and field trips and drives for the Corps when needed.
  • Participates in weekly staff meetings.
  • Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the Center facilities and grounds.
  • Completes and submits monthly statistics form in an accurate and timely manner.
  • May participate in special programs and/or events.
  • Performs other related work as required.
  • Drives van or bus for the Corps when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
