About The Position

Join our team at The Salvation Army’s SAL Center and play a key role in shaping the future of young students in our community. As a Program Aide, you’ll have the opportunity to inspire, mentor, and support children in grades K–6 through homework help, educational activities, and positive engagement.

Requirements

A caring, patient, and dependable individual who loves working with children.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Academic competency to help with K–6 homework (and willingness to learn/review Common Core Math).
Comfortable with technology: Microsoft Office, internet use, and children’s educational software.
A genuine interest in education, youth development, and making a positive impact.
PA Child Abuse, Criminal, and FBI Clearances (required at hire and renewal).
Completion of PA Mandated Reporter & Salvation Army KeepSAfe training.
Valid PA Driver’s License.
Flexible availability that aligns with the Oil City School District schedule (may include daytime, after-school, or hybrid hours).

Nice To Haves

Tutoring experience preferred.
Experience working with children’s programming.
Working knowledge of public-school system and community resources.

Responsibilities

Supervise and encourage children in homework, educational software, and enrichment activities.
Help students build confidence, learn new skills, and reach their academic goals.
Keep the classroom environment organized and welcoming for learning.
Collaborate with staff through weekly planning meetings and program evaluations.
Complete reports and updates to keep our programs running smoothly.
Assist with mealtime prep.
Help maintain program budgets and resources.
Step in with flexibility to support other program needs as directed.
