About The Position

The Arc of Cumberland and Perry Counties in Mechanicsburg and New Cumberland, PA is seeking to hire a full-time entry-level Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide direct care for the individuals we serve with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role involves supporting individuals with disabilities to lead self-directed, meaningful lives as part of a dedicated and motivated team. The position offers an opportunity to make a difference in a human services career. The Arc of Cumberland and Perry Counties was formed in 1953 by parents seeking services for people with disabilities and continues to advocate for individuals with disabilities, offer tools and training to families, and ensure individuals live, work, and play in their community. Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle during working hours
  • Punctual and reliable

Responsibilities

  • Support people with disabilities to live their best lives as independently as possible.
  • Assist with activities of daily living such as household maintenance, transportation, administration of medications, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and personal care.
  • Build strong relationships with individuals served, learning their individual differences in ability, personality, interests, learning, motivation, likes, and dislikes to provide the best care.
  • Support people with disabilities to live amazing lives according to their own needs and desires.
