Upward Bound Programs (UBP) at Penn State, located within The Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity, includes five federally funded TRIO grants. Two of these grants serve students at Reading High School, aiming to help them gain academic skills and motivation for post-secondary education. UBP is seeking a Program Advisor to work with approximately 100 students at Reading High School. The role involves organizing, developing, and implementing social, educational, and service-learning programs and activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for student recruitment, programming for grant-determined populations, and engaging with parents, students, and community stakeholders. The advisor will provide guidance, tutoring, and referrals on various student services, including high school course selection, college readiness, financial aid, health and wellness, career services, academic advising, student leadership, and diversity and inclusion. Additionally, the advisor will develop and implement academic year and summer residential programming in compliance with federal grant guidelines and foster relationships with school districts, community partners, and university offices.
