About The Position

The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is seeking a Program Administrator for Child Care Scholarships. H-GAC is a large regional planning commission serving a diverse area of 13 counties and over 7 million people. The organization addresses regional issues such as transportation, senior well-being, job connections, disaster recovery, and water quality, aiming to make the region a great place to live, work, and thrive. The Program Administrator will assist with planning and developing large-scale projects, manage projects related to training and professional development, and develop action plans to streamline processes and achieve outcomes. This role involves ensuring program compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, supervising a diverse team, strategically adjusting workloads, and communicating unit and project status.

Requirements

• Experienced in Project Management Principles and proven ability to handle large-scale projects from inception to completion, and anywhere in between
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively handle multiple competing deadlines
• Skill in allocating scarce resources, including human capital
• Effective leadership, motivation, and teamwork skills
• Problem-solving capabilities
• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
• 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, schools, or in job-related duties

Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning and development of new and existing large-scale projects
• Manage multiple projects related to training and professional development
• Develop action plans to streamline processes and achieve expected outcomes in a timely manner
• Ensure programs and services are delivered in accordance with the Workforce Board’s directive and compliant with all federal, state and local laws and regulations
• Supervise diverse team of individuals
• Strategically adjust work load amongst team members
• Effectively communicate unit and project status
