The John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) at the University of Hawai'i is seeking a Professor for the Department of Medicine. This is a full-time, tenure-track position with an 11-month tenure. The role involves participating in the development and evaluation of academic programs in Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) and Graduate Medical Education (GME). The position may include leadership roles such as Department Chair for Medicine and leadership within an affiliated faculty practice medical group. The Professor will contribute to strategic planning at the school level, aligning clinical operations with the academic mission in collaboration with various affiliated health systems and medical groups. Responsibilities include developing clinical research and service programs, maintaining accreditation standards (LCME and ACGME), overseeing quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development, and faculty evaluations. The role also involves serving as a principal investigator for grant proposals, mentoring students, residents, fellows, and faculty, and promoting professional growth through continuing education and research. The Professor is expected to conduct and publish research, build a vigorous departmental research program with extramural funding, and stay current with academic best practices. This position is expected to begin approximately March 2027, subject to position clearance and funding availability.
