About The Position

The University of Louisville School of Medicine (UofL SOM) (established 1837) invites applications for the position of Professor (open rank) for the Department of Emergency Medicine as a Research Methodologist. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This individual will serve as a leader in research methods, statistical analysis, and manuscript writing for the department and provide consulting and mentoring of others in the areas of research and scholarship. Requirements

  • PhD in educational leadership, statistics, psychology, or a related field.
  • A record of scholarly achievement evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and regional meetings.
  • At least 3 years of experience in higher education with experience for all of the following: direct involvement in research teaching and resident involvement program evaluation assessment methods management of complex data

  • Strong understanding of statistical software and survey software.
  • Competence in managing multiple projects simultaneously for different stakeholders, and time management to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Assessment skills to provide feedback on educational programs within department as requested.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills (both written and spoken communication), and team-building skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a diverse and rapid-paced professional environment.
  • Strong skills in office productivity tools including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Ability to lead proposals to support the growth of the Department in the area of research.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced consultation on research methods to faculty, staff, residents, and students in the department.
  • Serve as statistician on all research projects for the department that require analyses.
  • Academic publication expertise.
  • Demonstrate expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Collaborate with faculty and residents to develop a culture of research and scholarship.
  • Provide guidance to other units in research methodology and statistical analyses (quantitative, qualitative and mixed method) through collaboration on research projects and development of research grant applications.
  • Teach research methods and educational scholarship as requested for the department.
  • Conduct evaluations and assessment-based analyses for the department.
  • Provide data-visualization reports per request of the department.
  • Conduct original research and obtain multiple peer-reviewed publications per year as first author.
  • Collaborate on original research and obtain multiple peer-reviewed publications in supporting role.
  • Disseminate research through national, regional and local presentations.
  • Procure external grants and contracts to support research activities.
  • Serve as an assistant editor to Journal of Wellness – housed in the Department of Emergency Medicine.
  • Other duties as assigned.
