About The Position

The Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center invites applications from qualified candidates to join our faculty in an open rank, full-time, 12-month non-tenure track position. Faculty responsibilities include teaching, student advisement, university and professional service, overseeing the admissions process, with opportunities to participate in clinical practice. Faculty will be expected to disseminate scholarly work in accordance with professional and college guidelines. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience.

Requirements

  • Clinical or post-professional Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy or related field (OTD, DrOT, DSc, EdD, ScD, PhD).
  • Three (3) years of post-licensure clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Excellent communication, conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and a vision for excellence.
  • University or clinical teaching experience in needed content areas.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • NBCOT certification as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Licensed and eligible to practice occupational therapy in the State of Tennessee.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of post-licensure clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Previous teaching experience at the university level in the areas of mental health and pediatrics.
  • Experience supervising graduate students.
  • A demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Defined research agenda with a history of peer-reviewed publications
  • Evidence of leadership in a professional organization at a state or national level
  • Commitment to lifelong learning
  • Evidence of leadership or administration in clinical practice

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and implements a personal scholarly agenda
  • Serves on assigned committees and participates in university governance.
  • Promotes departmental involvement and service within the community.
  • Supports and helps plan collaborative and inter-professional education and service activities among faculty and students within the university and local community.
