About The Position

The Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative faculty member for a non-tenure track position in Physiology at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This role is dedicated to advancing veterinary education, fostering innovation, and promoting student success. The position involves teaching, service, and scholarly activities, with a typical time assignment of 75% teaching, 20% scholarly activities, and 5% service. Alternative hiring models, including part-time, non-benefit eligible positions, will be considered. The faculty member will contribute to a vibrant learning ecosystem designed to graduate future-ready veterinarians.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree (DVM, or equivalent, or MD, and/or PhD).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the delivery of veterinary/medical education, including an understanding of the principles of andragogy and pedagogy and their application in a professional curriculum.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated record of advancing innovation and creativity in learning and scholarly pursuits.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Record of successfully contributing to collaborative teams.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented success.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience teaching within a veterinary or medical school.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in educational and/or professional settings.
  • Demonstrated scholarly activities in education, innovations, entrepreneurship, and/or medical research.

Responsibilities

  • Provide innovative education, mentorship, and guidance to students in classroom, laboratory, and simulation center settings in the discipline of physiology.
  • Participate in student assessment, feedback, and remediation to ensure students meet LCSVM's academic standards in knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Participate in curriculum development, delivery, assessment, and enhancement.
  • Provide service to Lyon College and the community, including serving on committees, providing leadership, participating in community outreach, and working with professional organizations.
  • Maintain discipline and teaching expertise through continuing professional education.
  • Engage in scholarly activity, including research, authorship, conference presentations, teaching innovation, entrepreneurship, and mentorship of students in their scholarly activities.
  • Promote the mission of LCSVM to faculty, staff, students, and the community.
  • Contribute to a culture of academic creativity, innovation, and collaboration that fosters student success.
  • Promote effective, collaborative, and inclusive working relationships among faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders.
  • Advance the principles of andragogy and pedagogy throughout LCSVM.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
