The College of Computing & Artificial Intelligence (CAI) is UW–Madison’s first new college in more than 40 years, bringing together three established and highly regarded departments: Computer Sciences, Statistics, and the Information School. Building on their longstanding strengths in research and education, CAI advances interdisciplinary discovery spanning computing, data, information, and artificial intelligence and prepares students to shape how technology is designed, developed, and used for the public good. Supported by more than $400 million in philanthropic and institutional investment, CAI is expanding its faculty by 50 positions and significantly growing its research enterprise. Faculty joining CAI have the opportunity to contribute to established academic communities while helping shape a new college at a pivotal moment in its development. CAI is based in Morgridge Hall, a new, state-of-the-art facility designed to foster collaboration, learning, and discovery. The Department of Statistics within the College of Computing & Artificial Intelligence at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is experiencing rapid expansion as part of the university's substantial investment in data science and artificial intelligence. The department is also home to the Data Science major, which stands as the university's fastest-growing undergraduate program. Currently, the department features: 37 regular faculty members, Over 80 PhD students, Over 100 MS students, Approximately 1,800 undergraduate majors across statistics and data science. The Department of Statistics is widely recognized for its strong interplay between statistical theory, methodology, and practice. We are seeking excellent candidates for multiple tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in Statistics. The successful candidates will engage in the intellectual life of the Department through scholarly research, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, graduate student mentoring and supervision, and university and professional service. They will proactively contribute to, support, and advance the college’s commitment to excellence among all aspects of their teaching, mentoring, research, and service; which includes making significant contributions to the department’s teaching mission through course development and delivery to undergraduate and graduate students in one or more fields of specialization.
