About The Position

The Department of Nutrition at West Chester University (WCU), a public, comprehensive institution, invites applications for a Full-time, 9-month, Tenure-Track, Assistant/Associate Professor of Nutrition with a specialty in clinical nutrition. The position begins in August 2027. WCU is committed to offering high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs. The College of Health Sciences offers doctoral, master's, and certificate programs. The mission of the Department of Nutrition is to shape tomorrow’s nutrition and dietetics professionals and leaders through quality, relevant, and innovative teaching, service, and scholarship. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, including an accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), a Master of Science in Community Nutrition (MSCN), and an accredited Dietetic Internship. The ideal candidate will share WCU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, have experience with diverse populations, and contribute to student success through inclusive pedagogy, scholarship, and service. The typical course load is four courses per semester, with potential for off-campus and distance learning assignments.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Nutrition or a closely related field. (ABD and terminal degree completed by the end of first year of employment will be considered with a letter from the dissertation chair outlining timeline for completion).
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential (RD or RDN).
  • Work experience in clinical nutrition.
  • Didactic teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Board certified specialist (sports dietetic, obesity and weight management, renal, etc.).
  • Work experience in sports nutrition.
  • Teaching experience with learning management systems such as Blackboard, D2L or Canvas.
  • Teaching experience with adult learners and experience using distance education technology.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses including, but not limited to, Nutrition Assessment, Medical Nutrition Therapy I and II, Sports Nutrition, Lifecycle Nutrition, and others.
  • Contributing to the curriculum and curriculum development in the undergraduate and graduate/dietetic internship programs.
  • Conducting research and other types of scholarly activities compatible with the teacher-scholar model.
  • Directing student projects.
  • Mentoring and advising students.
  • Serving the University and the community through participation in various committees.
  • Administrative duties assigned as needed.
