About The Position

The University of Pikeville, Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant/Associate/Professor of Neuroanatomy/Anatomy. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Dean for Biomedical Sciences and will be responsible for teaching, scholarly activity/research, and service in the basic sciences and Neuroanatomy/Anatomy. This role involves preparing lectures, notes, learning objectives, PowerPoint slides, exam questions, and syllabi, as well as participating in curriculum development and evaluation. The position also includes research and other scholarly activities, providing student counseling and guidance, serving on university committees, attending university events, participating in faculty development, and assisting in student selection for KYCOM. Other duties may be assigned by the KYCOM Dean.

Requirements

  • Earned Doctorate degree.
  • Previous academic experience, preferably at an osteopathic or allopathic medical educational program.
  • Experience teaching face-to-face and/or online within a higher education environment.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, anticipatory problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work to complete assignments accurately and within reasonable timeframes.
  • Ability to embrace diversity to best serve a growing higher education community.
  • Ability to foster excellence and innovation.
  • A history of demonstrating strong character and outstanding integrity.
  • Current knowledge and skills in utilizing Microsoft Office Applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to learn and utilize Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, and the University online platform and systems.
  • Demonstrated cooperation, courtesy, and consideration when working with the professional community, KYCOM, KYCO and UPIKE communities, faculty, students, and the public.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Alignment with the University of Pikeville, KYCOM and KYCO missions.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching Neuroanatomy and Anatomy, including preparation of lectures, lecture notes, learning objectives, PowerPoint slides, exam questions, and syllabi.
  • Participating in and recommending curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Conducting research and other scholarly activities.
  • Providing counseling and guidance for students.
  • Serving on assigned KYCOM, KYCO, and the University of Pikeville committees.
  • Attending Commencement, White Coat Ceremony, new student orientation, and University of Pikeville Opening Convocation.
  • Participating in Faculty Development.
  • Assisting in the selection of students to attend KYCOM.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the KYCOM Dean.
