The College of Science and Technology (CoST) at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications and nominations for a dynamic and innovative Director of the Applied Science and Technology ( AST ) Ph.D. Program, with a preferred start date of July 2026. The AST Ph.D. program is the largest doctoral program on campus, enrolling more than 170 students, and encompasses the following concentrations: Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, Atmospheric, Environmental and Energy Science, Bioscience, Data Science and Analytics, Geospatial Sciences, Information Technology, Technology Management, and STEM Education. Reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Science and Technology, this position is an appointment with a tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Professor. An appointment at the Associate Professor level may be considered for candidates who demonstrate exceptional promise and a strong trajectory for growth. The successful candidate will bring significant experience in higher education leadership and a distinguished record of scholarship and research. The Director is expected to articulate and implement a compelling vision for strengthening and expanding the educational, research, and service missions of the AST program. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence within a discipline represented in CoST and possess an open, collaborative, and collegial leadership style. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: · Leading graduate student recruitment, admissions, and mentoring · Overseeing the admissions process in collaboration with participating departments · Promoting graduate student success and monitoring academic progress of all enrolled students · Communicating with students and faculty regarding student progress and academic matters · Administering qualifying and preliminary examinations Collaborating with the Dean’s Office on graduate student funding proposals and requests · Ensuring high-quality graduate course offerings · Supporting AST faculty research, teaching, and service activities Providing oversight and stewardship of the program’s administrative, financial, and academic operations · Engaging faculty in strategic planning, program assessment, and reporting · Serving as a liaison with the Graduate College · Supporting fundraising and teaching initiatives related to the program This is a 12-month tenure-track position.
