About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for Professor and Director of the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies. This role supervises a complex operation including a growing academic program, public radio station, video production team, and student social media agency. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in higher education, a strong academic record, and significant professional media experience. The School offers an innovative curriculum with concentrations in journalism, sports media, advertising and public relations, social and digital media, video journalism, and audio and podcasting, as well as a fully online concentration in media studies. The faculty includes nationally recognized scholars and media professionals, and the School has developed strong relationships with the Las Vegas media community. The successful candidate will be a resourceful leader capable of building upon the School’s momentum, adapting to industry and higher education changes, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Journalism, Communication, Media or a related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
At least 15 years of academic and professional media experience.
Experience in leadership, management, development, and budgeting.
Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
