About The Position

The Department of Audiology at San José State University is seeking a Department Chair to begin in August 2027. This is a full-time, tenured faculty position with a fractional administrative appointment. The Chair will be responsible for the academic, administrative, and strategic direction of the program. The successful candidate will have a strong record of research, teaching, leadership, and professional achievements, with a commitment to health equity, interprofessional practice, and supporting diverse students. The Chair will provide visionary leadership for the department, ensure compliance with accreditation standards (ACAE and CAA), and foster a collaborative environment for curriculum and program decisions. They will also mentor and advocate for faculty, support their professional growth, and provide administrative oversight to the Audiology Clinic Director for clinic operations, community impact, and financial sustainability. Teaching will be in graduate audiology, reflecting the candidate's expertise, departmental needs, and the chair's workload. The chair appointment is for four years, after which the incumbent will continue as a tenured faculty member. The Department of Audiology offers a Doctor of Audiology program focused on research and clinical training, preparing students for careers in hearing and balance healthcare. Located in Silicon Valley, the program emphasizes hands-on experience through its clinic, laboratories, and clinical rotations, culminating in a doctoral research project. Small cohort sizes allow for close faculty mentorship. San José State University is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI), committed to advancing equity and creating inclusive learning environments.
