About The Position

This position is with the Department of Health and is located in Lihue. The Professional Worker III reflects the first independent worker level in a series of professional work. Work assignments routinely encompass problems of average difficulty and complexity, requiring the application of technical knowledge, skills and sound judgment in applying the fundamental principles, techniques, standards, policies, procedures, rules and regulations pertinent to the occupational specialty and program area. Problems encountered are usually those which can be resolved by direct application of specific standards, regulations or other similar guides. Additional assignments are selected to develop the employee for eventual progression to the fully independent worker level.

Requirements

  • Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • One and one-half years of progressively responsible professional experience in social work, public health, or other related fields which demonstrated knowledge of current social and economic conditions, community organizations and the services and/or programs they offer to the community.
  • Overall experience must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the problems and needs of the developmentally disabled.
  • Experience must have demonstrated the applicant's ability to conduct studies and analyses of ongoing programs through active participation in the planning, coordination and development of programs and/or program activities.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the planning and coordination of programs and activities concerned with services to the developmentally disabled.
  • Conducts program and operational studies and activities to assist grant aided agencies in developing programs for the development of the master plan.
  • Monitors grant aided agencies to insure activities and use of funds conform to project intent and requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
