About The Position

UPMC East is hiring a full-time Professional Staff Nurse to support the Operating Room at our Monroeville, PA location! We have expanded our ORs and are seeking skilled nurses to join us! Our OR has multiple surgical specialties including (but not limited to) Neuro Spine, ENT, Orthopedic, Urology, Plastic, Thoracic, Robotic and Vascular in our state-of-the-art hybrid surgical suite. This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus of $15,000 for nurses with at least 1 year of nursing experience! In this position, you will learn how to circulate and scrub! Learning both roles will foster continuous learning and keep the work experience engaging and stimulating. Hours for this position are 3 x 12-hour shifts, starting at 6:30 am Monday-Friday. No off-shift or rotating shifts are required! There is occasional on-call time for weekday and weekend coverage, and we utilize a self-scheduling model to support work-life balance. Experienced nurses (at least 1 year of nursing experience) are preferred for this role.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience for salary shown.
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Registered Nurse (RN)
Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.
They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
Exemplary clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process.
Mobility and visual manual dexterity.
Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
UPMC approved nursing certification preferred.
Annual completion of 2 professional contributions selected from department, hospital or system goals, and approved by your Unit Director OR certification and 1 professional contribution selected from department, hospital or system goals, and approved by your Unit Director as set forth through UPMC's My Nursing Career Ladder.
Certification not required if Master's in nursing or DNP is held.
