About The Position

This is a full-time Professional Staff Nurse position in the Emergency Department at UPMC Passavant in McCandless. The role involves delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, using evidence-based practices, educating patients and families, participating in shared governance and quality improvement, and supporting new staff and students. The position requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and demonstrates knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan. Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships within a complex healthcare environment. Physical stamina for walking, standing, lifting, and positioning patients is also necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six months experience
  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state where the facility is located or a compact state
  • CPR required based on AHA standards (didactic and skills demonstration within 30 days of hire)
  • ACLS, PALS, and NIMS required within 6 months of hire
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment
  • Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care
  • Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process
  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced RNs are encouraged to apply
  • Graduate Nurses with prior patient care experience will also be considered
  • Previous ICU/ED experience strongly preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • UPMC approved national certification preferred
