About The Position

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team, responsible for setting standards for the level and quality of care and accountable for providing nursing care. The nurse manages and provides care for a group of patients and their families using independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with team members. The role includes leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision, as well as maintaining collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and families to achieve desired outcomes across the continuum of care. The nurse demonstrates commitment to the community and nursing profession. In inpatient rehabilitation, nurses support patients as they regain strength, mobility, independence, and confidence. Patients often spend more time on the unit, allowing nurses to build relationships and support individual goals from admission through discharge. The setting offers opportunities to strengthen nursing skills, develop clinical expertise, and work with an interdisciplinary team that includes physical, occupational, and speech therapy, physicians, case management, and other hospital services. This is a casual position at UPMC Carlisle, with a schedule spanning day, evening, and night shifts. The position requires 36 hours in six weeks, including 12 weekend hours, and one holiday per year.
