About The Position

We are hiring Registered Nurses to join the Operating Room at UPMC Presbyterian! UPMC Presbyterian’s OR is a Level 1 Trauma and Transplant Operating Room that has 46 ORs and 10 specialty service lines. It is an exciting and fast paced environment where learning never stops! Those without prior Operating Room experience will be provided with on-site training.
Our staff provides 24/7 coverage with limited weekends and nights, plus call.

The Professional Staff Nurse is a valued step in the UPMC nursing career ladder, with opportunities for continued growth and advancement; Graduate Nurses are encouraged to apply. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support OR Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
• Registered Nurse OR Temporary Practice Permit
• Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse
• CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
• Must complete licensure examination within FOUR MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first.

Nice To Haves

• Prior nursing experience is preferred but not required.
• Operating room experience is preferred but not required.

• Actively engages in clinical development and/or RN residency program for new hires.
• Requests opportunities to learn safe, accountable and autonomous practice from more experienced nurses.
• Seeks, accepts and utilizes performance feedback from peers, preceptors and unit/department Leaders as a learning opportunity and to improve practice.
• Demonstrates enthusiasm for continuous learning and identifies and creates a plan for the continuation of learning and development.
• Identifies patient and family needs for education and provides basic education to support the episode of care.
• Seeks professional development and involvement through membership in a professional nursing organization and/or reading professional literature on a regular basis.
• Performs scrub role (requirement for RNs hired on or after July 1, 2023).
